Aim of the study programme

The study programme Technologies of Information Systems is aimed at training engineers capable of programming, designing and creating information systems, dynamic websites, portals, applications for smart devices, creating and administrating databases, administrating computer networks and operating systems, applying cloud computing and virtualisation technologies, managing computer network, maintaining and administrating business IS and applying integrated information systems in organization activities.

Objective of the study programme

Train IS technology specialists who are able to analyse technical characteristics of computer hardware and software, design, programme, install and integrate information systems, apply cloud computing and virtualisation technologies in company activities in order to ensure efficient operation of information systems in a company; make it possible and ensure that students of this study programme will be able to use information sources, select target information, classify and analyse it, constantly improve their competencies, think creatively and critically, analyse and generalize the results of work.

Outcomes of the study programme

Knowledge and its application

  1. To know and apply the principles and laws of mathematics and informatics to understand the basics of informatics engineering study field.

  2. To describe and explain the main concepts and facts related to the operation of computers and smart devices, classification of computer systems, architecture and applied solutions of information technologies.

  3. To identify legal requirements regulating the activities of computer systems, including data security, intellectual property rights and work safety.

Abilities to perform research

  1. To choose and use relevant methods and measures of data analysis, to collect data, summarize and perform its analysis.

  2. To perform the analysis of different data resources for a specific case, evaluate their reliability, describe the problem and it‘s solution on the abstract level.

  3. To analyse modern information technologies and systems, evaluate their characteristics regarding the technical and functional potentiality and the needs of companies.

Special skills

  1. To programme, project and design information systems, applications for smart devices, implementing the components of user interface, activity logic and/or databases.

  2. To install, integrate, test information systems, administrate databases and/or computer networks, taking into account economic, social, safety and ethical aspects of the chosen solutions.

9.1. Choice of games courses pack: to design, model and programme computer games and applications

9.2. Choice of computer network administration courses pack: to administer corporate internal and external computer  network and ensure it‘s security, to apply virtualization technologies

9.3. Choice of programming courses pack: implement different programming algorithms, programing frameworks, use software development tools and test the software.

10.To understand the main activity processes of information systems and business aspects, to plan and manage designing, installing and administrating of information systems projects; responsibly evaluate the ethical, commercial, legal and environmental impact of information systems projects.

Social skills

11. To work in a team, communicate with colleagues and potential customers of software solving professional tasks; to introduce the problems of informatics area in writing and orally in correct Lithuanian and at least one foreign language.

12. To learn independently in the professional area and perceive the moral responsibility for the impact of own activities and the results on the society; to sustain the corporate values by ensuring the personal and corporate image.

Career opportunities

Having acquired the degree of Professional Bachelor of Informatics Sciences graduates can work in various Lithuanian and foreign computer service companies, telecommunication, automated systems or other type of computerised companies in the state and private sector, manage the corresponding units in the following areas of professional activities: design of information systems and databases, development and maintenance, programming and creation of dynamic websites, portals, application programmes for smart devices, information management, management of IS projects, system development and integration, administration of databases and computer networks and other areas. After graduating from the Technologies of Information Systems study programme graduates can continue studies in Lithuanian and foreign higher education institutions implementing 2nd cycle study programmes of Informatics Engineering field in the area of Informatics Sciences.

Degree granting requirements

Graduate’s knowledge, skills and abilities indicated in the description of the study programme are tested and assessed in public defence of a graduation thesis. A graduation thesis is an analytical project based on independent applied research. 12 ECTS are given for preparation and defence of a graduation thesis.

  • Certificate of qualifications recognition issued by the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education of Lithuania (if applicable)

Note: Legalized and notarized English translations are required for all Education documents.

 

Documents needed after acceptance

  • Bank statement about sufficient means of subsistence and the funds for return (subsistence means the amount of 0.5 minimum monthly salary for one month, the amount for return to the country of origin or a foreign country to which you have the right to travel, the amount of funds – 1 minimum monthly salary)
  • Non conviction/Police Clearance certificate from the countries of residence in the last two years
  • Health certificate – issued no longer than a month prior the date of application
