Call for applications for Lithuanian language and culture summer courses is CLOSED!

Education Exchanges Support Foundation offers to attend Lithuanian language and culture summer courses for students, lecturers, researchers from all foreign countries (except citizens of Russia and Belarus), and foreigners of Lithuanian origin from all foreign countries. These courses are not available for holders of C1 or higher levels of Lithuanian language and native speakers.

NOTE:

Candidates can only take advantage of the scholarship for a maximum of 3 times in total (starting from 2017 summer courses). Candidates who had already received 3 scholarships for this activity will not be considered.

In the summer 2024, Lithuanian language and culture courses will be organised at 6 higher education and research institutions (note: please apply for one institution only. If you will apply for more than one institution, all your applications will be not eligible.):

Eligibility Requirements For Candidates

1. The candidate has to be a student, lecturer or researcher of a higher education and research institution of a foreign country (except Russian and Belarusian citizens).
2. Requirements for the candidates from the group “Lithuanians and foreigners of Lithuanian origin”– the candidate has to meet all criteria listed below:
• Has to be a child, grandchild, great-grandchild of Lithuanians living abroad or a foreigner of the Lithuanian origin (citizens of the Republic of Lithuania who have lived abroad for at least three years or citizens of foreign states who have lost the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania shall be regarded as Lithuanians living abroad. A foreigner shall be considered to be a foreigner of Lithuanian descent if at least one of his parents or grandparents is or was Lithuanian and who considers himself Lithuanian);
• Has to be a student, lecturer or researcher of a higher education and research institution of a foreign country or an active member of the Lithuanian community abroad.

Priority (and extra points) will be given to the applicants who:
• apply for the summer language and culture courses for the first time;
• formally or informally study Lithuanian language, history and culture as a subject at home institution (a document confirming it must be added to the application form)
• are citizens of Ukraine and Taiwan (for Foreigners category only).

Financial Provisions

• Students, lecturers and researchers of all study/research fields and foreigners of Lithuanian origin approved for Lithuanian language and culture courses will receive a scholarship of 825 EUR (only for participants of contact courses). The scholarship is intended to cover the scholarship holder’s expenses only. Additional amount for accompanying partners or family is not provided. Lithuanian state scholarships cannot be double funded from other sources, e.g. other scholarships or other academic exchange programmes.
• Tuition fee for Lithuanian language and culture courses will be covered by the Republic of Lithuania and directly transferred to the higher education and research institution.

Required Documents for Lithuanian Language and Culture Courses for Foreigners

The candidates must submit applications and provide the copies of the listed documents through online application system of the host institution:
1. Official letter from the candidate’s higher education and research institution confirming the status of a student, lecturer or researcher.
2. One recommendation letter filled and signed by a professor or other academic staff, tutor or employer.
Application and required documents must be completed in English or Lithuanian only (or with certified translations into one of these languages).

Required Documents for Lithuanian Language and Culture Courses for Foreigners of Lithuanian origin
The candidates must submit applications and provide the copies of the listed documents through online application system of the host institution:
1. One recommendation letter from Lithuanian community abroad or from foreign higher education and research institution;
2. Proof of Lithuanian origin:
• a certificate or other document proving the Lithuanian origin issued by the Lithuanian community of a respective country or other competent authority (an embassy and similar);
• a document issued by a competent foreign authority (a school, municipality, embassy and similar) proving that the person has resided for three years in a foreign country if he/she is an alien;

Application and required documents must be completed in English or Lithuanian only (or with certified translations into one of these languages).
