The website was launched by “Study in LT” partners “Work in Lithuania” – the initiative which encourages professionals living abroad to build their careers in Lithuania and helps international companies meet their potential employees.
Working During the Studies
International students have the right to work while studying in Lithuania as long as they are enrolled in a university. However, working-hour limits depend on the level and year of study.
Students from non-EU countries pursuing a Bachelor’s degree who are in their first and second year can work up to 20 hours per week, while students in their third and fourth year, as well as Master’s and PhD students, can work up to 40 hours per week.
Students from the EU can work while studying in Lithuania without a specific limit on working hours, meaning they can work full-time, up to 40 hours per week. Their employment conditions are the same as for local students.
Working After the Studies
International students have a possibility to stay in the country for 15 months afterwards to look for a job:
• During the last year of studying apply for a temporary residence permit renewal for 3 additional months from the day when studies are finished.
• After graduating, you also have the possibility to apply for a temporary residence permit for 12 months for job search and self-employment purposes.
