Target set on Belarus

Two institutions of Higher Education in Lithuania – Lithuanian Sports University (LSU) and Alytus College (AK) has set their minds to develop their bases in Druskininkai (Lithuania). This town in the south of the country is not only famous for health resorts and spa’s, but also close proximity to Belarus and Poland.

LSU chancellor Mindaugas Balciunas revealed that university already has a branch in Druskinkai and currently is encouraging local Lithuanian students to join with programmes focused on tourism, sports management and kinesitherapy. However it soon plans to also start special MSc course in European basketball coaching science – something that Mr. Balciunas said has been discussed with basketball federation of Belarus.

Alytus College has similar plans. Its director Danute Remeikiene said that they plan to form a group of students who could study in Druskininkai. Alytus College plans to offer programmes focusing on technologies and mechanics, and, based on demand, it also plans to offer additional courses of English language.
