Programme overview

Aim

The study programme is to educate multidisciplinary contemporary textile artists having knowledge of the fundamentals, materials and techniques of textile and other art branches and abilities to independently create, design and implement creative ideas, think critically, reflect upon and represent their creative activities, understand fundamental features of cultural development, manage art projects and participate in them, work in a team and integrate into the processes of contemporary textile art.

Profile of the programme

The study programme is to educate textile artists having specific knowledge about the basics of textile and other branches of art, materials and technologies, essential historical peculiarities of cultural development; able to manage art projects and participate in them; analyze and interpret, evaluate and influence processes of their speciality, their place in general cultural context, work individually or in a team, independently create, design and implement creative ideas by applying various means and technologies of artistic expression. Candidates to the Textile programme have to meet VAA admission contest requirements. The programme includes subjects of study basics based on the interdisciplinary method, combining development of thought and idea with acquisition of technologies and artistic means, basics of means of visual expression, general university subjects. Interactive study methods are applied, skills of critical thinking and reflection and representation are formed, there are opportunities to try out specificity of team work, gain experience of exhibition management and presentation of creation, expand knowledge and improve skills in theoretical and practical workshops of visiting lecturers. Graduates are able to carry out individual creative activities, participate in local and international art projects, create orders for public and private spaces, work as artists in textile industries and art galleries, art studios for children and youth, healthcare institutions, or continue studies in the MA study programme.
