Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution is the only state higher educational institution in Šiauliai county that provides higher college education.
About us
The institution started its operation in 2002, by the order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania to merge Šiauliai Higher School of Medicine and Šiauliai Higher Technical School.
In 2002 Šiauliai Higher Technical School became the Faculty of Business and Technology of Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija and Šiauliai Higher School of Medicine – Faculty of Health Care.
Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution has proved that during more than ten years of its activity, it has been acknowledged to be a Higher School with qualified studies. The studies are practice-orientated. Institution created a modern and democratic environment for students and staff. The institution offers more than 20 study programmes. The programmes include biomedical, social and technological fields. The needs of the labour market indicated such a spectrum of study programmes.
On 3 July 2023 The European Commission announced 2023 results of the European University Alliances applications competition and confirmed the funding of more than EUR 14 million for the NEOLAiA Alliance with the participation of Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija! In 2023, the NEOLAiA application was rated as high as 90 points out of 100 possible. This rating crowns the intensive and focused work of nine European higher education institutions under the leadership of the University of Jaén, Spain.
Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija fosters close relations with the region’s business companies, associations, social partners, who are actively involved in the process of preparation and defense of graduation papers, help to improve and update study programmes, and admit students to practice. Another way of cooperation between business and ŠVK is material support from patrons to participants of the study process. The ŠVK Study Fund, established in 2022, is constantly being replenished – students are happy to receive business attention for excellent learning outcomes, implemented projects and professional training.
