Programme overview

The PhD programme in Chemistry at the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC) provides advanced training in fundamental and applied chemical research, fostering innovation and high-level scientific competence.
Doctoral candidates conduct research in internationally active research groups, contributing to scientific advancement and the development of sustainable technologies and advanced materials.
The programme consists of:
Coursework – 30 ECTS (3–4 specialised study modules and transferable skills training)
Research activities, including:
- Presentation of research results at at least two international conferences
- Publication of at least two peer-reviewed scientific articles
Scientific internship
Recommended duration: at least 3 months (international mobility is encouraged)
Doctoral dissertation
Preparation and public defence of the PhD thesis
Financial Support
Doctoral students receive a state-funded doctoral stipend:
- Year 1: €1,406 per month
- Years 2–4: €1,628 per month
