Chemical Engineering master’s study programme empowers students to lead change at the intersection of industry, sustainability, and advanced research. Students advance their knowledge of complex chemical processes, materials engineering, and modern technologies while gaining hands-on experience in applied research and innovation-driven projects. Challenge-based learning and interdisciplinary competences, together with practical work in modern laboratories, provide expertise in sustainable process design while exploring innovative approaches to energy, materials, and environmental challenges. Students develop new products, optimise processes and create new technologies while implementing solutions based on scientific excellence in cooperation with industrial companies as well as professionals from other fields. Chemical engineering is an international field, offering students opportunities for global collaboration, research perspectives, and double diploma studies with the University of Catania (Italy).

Programme Structure
Chemical Engineering study programme at KTU enables students to engage in the design of new chemical products, the implementation of new technologies, and the advancement of innovation in the chemical industry. This programme provides students with:
- communication and professional ethics, emphasising social responsibility, sustainability, and impact on society;
- research-based knowledge of mathematics and natural sciences for the development or optimising of technological processes and products;
- design and research skills, including experience with laboratory equipment and design software suchh as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, and AutoCAD;
- practical experience gained through research and internship projects in scientific laboratories or chemical industry companies.
The programme offers flexible learning pathways, challenge-based learning and interdisciplinary competences.
Students also have the chance to study for a year at the University of Catania in Italy and obtain a double degree.
Admission requirements
Funding opportunities
All international students automatically become candidates to receive the Scholarship for International Students, which is assigned for first-year Bachelor or Master students with strong academic records and motivation.
The residents of European Union countries and the global citizens of Lithuanian origin can apply for state-funded study places. This means that all the applicants, who fall into one of the aforementioned categories, will participate in the general admission’s competition for state-funded study places and get the chance to study free of charge, depending on their admission score.

Campus life
The main KTU Campus is within walking distance from the city centre. In the campus, university sports halls and courts, dormitories, shops and recreational areas are all nearby. KTU boasts the active student community, with 6 art societies and over 20 students’ organisations. Our students can choose from 100 weekly sports classes, and join one of 20 sports teams. All of this is free of charge.
Over 40 thousand students study in Kaunas, and of these, around 10% are international students. Lush parks, lively squares, cosy cafes and buzzing cultural life make Kaunas attractive not only as a travel destination but also as a place to live.
