Programme overview
Mechatronics responds to the growing demand from industry for engineers who can combine mechanics, electronics, automation and IT to innovate in robotics and smart systems, thereby driving Industry 4.0. The Mechatronics Bachelor’s programme has been awarded the Investors’ Spotlight quality label and prepares students to design, analyse, and operate automated systems in the advanced manufacturing, aerospace, and biomedical sectors. Studies take place in state-of-the-art virtual and physical laboratories equipped with Festo production lines, ABB robots, CNC machines, and 3D printers. The programme also supports international mobility and industry partnerships. Graduates can pursue careers in automation engineering, robotics design, and control systems, or pursue postgraduate studies in engineering and technology.

Programme Structure
The programme integrates mechanics, electronics, automation, and control systems to prepare students for creating smart and robotic technologies. Students develop the following competencies:
- teamwork, problem-solving, technical communication, and project management;
- system design, robotics, sensors and actuators, PLC programming, and control engineering;
- MATLAB, SolidWorks, LabVIEW, and automation/robotics simulation tools;
- professional experience through an internship in a manufacturing company operating in the mechatronics, robotics, or automation field.
As an alternative, students can choose the Product Development project in the 6th semester.
Admission requirements
Funding opportunities
All international students automatically become candidates to receive the Scholarship for International Students, which is assigned for first-year Bachelor or Master students with strong academic records and motivation.
The residents of European Union countries and the global citizens of Lithuanian origin can apply for state-funded study places. This means that all the applicants, who fall into one of the aforementioned categories, will participate in the general admission’s competition for state-funded study places and get the chance to study free of charge, depending on their admission score.

Campus life
The main KTU Campus is within walking distance from the city centre. In the campus, university sports halls and courts, dormitories, shops and recreational areas are all nearby. KTU boasts the active student community, with 6 art societies and over 20 students’ organisations. Our students can choose from 100 weekly sports classes, and join one of 20 sports teams. All of this is free of charge.
Over 40 thousand students study in Kaunas, and of these, around 10% are international students. Lush parks, lively squares, cosy cafes and buzzing cultural life make Kaunas attractive not only as a travel destination but also as a place to live.
