Programme overview

In today’s rapidly evolving digital industries, professionals with strong computing expertise are in high demand. The Bachelor’s in Informatics equips students with the knowledge to develop up-to-date software, manage cloud-based solutions, and create innovative digital systems across a range of sectors. The programme also offers international opportunities through recognised certifications, advanced laboratories, industry partnerships, and access to specialised infrastructure, including High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems. Graduates can pursue careers as software developers, systems analysts, web or mobile engineers, or IT infrastructure specialists, as well as continue their studies in advanced fields of informatics.

Programme Structure

The Informatics study programme combines fundamental computer science subjects with applied courses that help students develop both technical expertise and professional competencies needed in today’s IT field. The students gain:

  • soft skills in communication, teamwork, and adaptability;
  • skills in software development, cloud technologies, data processing, multimedia solutions, and modern IT system design;
  • training in professional software and HPC systems;
  • practical experience through a mandatory internship, allowing the application of knowledge in real companies.

Admission requirements

Proficiency in English IELTS ≥ 5.5, TOEFL ≥ 75, CEFR ≥ B2, or equivalent.
Eligibility criteria High school certificate. Maximum 3 years after high school graduation.

Minimum average grade (CGPA) >60% in each entry subject.

Transcript requirements Obtain a suitable transcript of your bachelor’s degree from your school.

If unavailable, provide official translations and verified copies of the original documents.

Accepted languages English
Document legislation The documents must be legalised (Apostille) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where the documents were issued.

This requirement does not apply to the documents issued in the EU and Belarus, Ukraine.

 

Funding opportunities

All international students automatically become candidates to receive the Scholarship for International Students, which is assigned for first-year Bachelor or Master students with strong academic records and motivation.

The residents of European Union countries and the global citizens of Lithuanian origin can apply for state-funded study places. This means that all the applicants, who fall into one of the aforementioned categories, will participate in the general admission’s competition for state-funded study places and get the chance to study free of charge, depending on their admission score.

Campus life

The main KTU Campus is within walking distance from the city centre. In the campus, university sports halls and courts, dormitories, shops and recreational areas are all nearby. KTU boasts the active student community, with 6 art societies and over 20 students’ organisations. Our students can choose from 100 weekly sports classes, and join one of 20 sports teams. All of this is free of charge.

Over 40 thousand students study in Kaunas, and of these, around 10% are international students. Lush parks, lively squares, cosy cafes and buzzing cultural life make Kaunas attractive not only as a travel destination but also as a place to live.
