Programme overview
Chemical Technology and Engineering bachelor’s study programme offers practical experience in laboratories while working with pilot-scale processes and design software, allowing students to master the principles of chemical technology, materials, and process engineering. Students develop expertise in transforming raw materials and energy into new and valuable products, strengthen their abilities in process safety, and enhance skills in sustainable production and environmental protection. Chemical Technology and Engineering programme also offers the opportunity to join an international community of chemical engineers through double-degree studies with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (Spain). Students grow professionally in a practice-oriented environment and are prepaerd for a global career in manufacturing, energy, materials, and related industries.

Programme Structure
Chemical Technology and Engineering study programme at KTU combines natural sciences, mathematics, engineering and social sciences in the analysis and design of products and processes in various chemical technologies. This programme provides students with:
- communication and entrepreneurship skills for problem-solving and working in multidisciplinary teams;
- an understanding of chemical, heat, and mass transfer processes, providing the fundamentals of various chemical technologies;
- laboratory and design skills, including experience with laboratory equipment and design software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks;
- practical experience gained through internship projects in chemical industry companies.
The programme offers the chance to study for a year at Polytechnic University of Cartagena in Spain and obtain a double degree.
Admission requirements
Funding opportunities
All international students automatically become candidates to receive the Scholarship for International Students, which is assigned for first-year Bachelor or Master students with strong academic records and motivation.
The residents of European Union countries and the global citizens of Lithuanian origin can apply for state-funded study places. This means that all the applicants, who fall into one of the aforementioned categories, will participate in the general admission’s competition for state-funded study places and get the chance to study free of charge, depending on their admission score.

Campus life
The main KTU Campus is within walking distance from the city centre. In the campus, university sports halls and courts, dormitories, shops and recreational areas are all nearby. KTU boasts the active student community, with 6 art societies and over 20 students’ organisations. Our students can choose from 100 weekly sports classes, and join one of 20 sports teams. All of this is free of charge.
Over 40 thousand students study in Kaunas, and of these, around 10% are international students. Lush parks, lively squares, cosy cafes and buzzing cultural life make Kaunas attractive not only as a travel destination but also as a place to live.
