Law and Global Security

Global challenges, like cyberattacks, money laundering, human rights violations and terrorism are on the rise. People’s lives are affected by global and national insecurity. Law plays an increasingly important role in addressing the dangers caused by global challenges.

This programme focusses on the use of law in personal, national, and global security. It teaches students how to fact find, conduct research, strategically negotiate and lead when it comes to addressing international security matters. It looks at how the world has been changed by geopolitics, the pandemic, rising energy and food prices and technology, and how the law can be used to resolve these issues.

Specialists in law and global security are in demand across the world. Institutions such as the United Nations, the European Union, the Organization for European Economic Cooperation, NATO, and others require people who have strong legal skills in the international environment.

Graduates of this programme can look widely for roles in international and national institutions, dealing with national and global security issues, both in the public and private sectors, especially those concerned with human rights, compliance, anti-money laundering issues, energy and other forms of security.

International Business and Technology Law

This program is offered in response to the challenges posed by rapid digitalization and robotics to business law by combining relevant aspects of two branches/institutes of law – business and technology law. The aim of the master’s study program is to prepare highly qualified masters of law who know the specifics of international business and technology law institutes and their interaction, are able to independently and critically analyze problems of the synergy of international business and technology law in the contexts of the development of artificial intelligence, changes in relevant legal science, globalization of business and legal environment (integrating articulation at the international, EU and national levels), to find and propose concrete solutions to complex international business situations, taking into account the latest theories of legal science and the requirements of professional legal ethics.

Competencies acquired

Having completed the study program, You will be able to:

  • analyze and apply in practice main legal acts, principles and case law regulating modern international business, technologies, and data protection in the contexts of national, EU and international comparative legal regulation, taking into account the latest legal science and related theories and requirements of professional legal ethics.
  • initiate, organize, conduct and interpret scientific and applied research in modern international business and technology law at the national and international levels, applying specialized research methodologies, assessing their impact from a social and ethical point of view and presenting scientifically based conclusions.
  • use national and foreign information sources, relevant databases, and modern technologies efficiently and productively in conducting research.
  • independently identify problems of legal regulation in the field of international business and technology law and propose possible solutions, holistically evaluating various legal and scientific doctrines, international experience, following the imperatives of the protection of human rights and public welfare.
  • independently model instruments for the regulation of legal relations and resolution of disputes that arise when smart technologies are used in international business law by analyzing and evaluating the activities of individuals in the context of the principles and provisions of law in accordance with scientific doctrine, interdisciplinary approach, international experience and requirements of professional ethics, is able critically assess the consequences and risks of decisions.
  • present your attitude, knowledge, and skills in native and second language fluently and reasonably in the context of modern international business and technology law, in different management levels, competencies and cultures, while respecting cultural and traditional diversity and demonstrating leadership skills.
  • have a wide scope of interdisciplinary critical thinking, is able to apply skills acquired during studies and independent learning experience in the ever-changing context of globalization, taking responsibility for the development and strengthening of the legal profession, and is able to continuously study independently, by using acquired knowledge and skills in the practice of modern international business and technology law.

Master’s – European Union Law

Where do we need more and where less Europe? What can Europe contribute to global, sustainable and socially just development? These and other questions are covered in European Union Law master level programme. Students learn methodological skills and apply these to practical situations.

The program encourages students to develop a comprehensive understanding of the complex interactions taking place within the European economy and European society. The program provides insights into the discipline of European law and it takes into account economic and sociological point of view by focusing on the interdependencies between economic trade, legal frameworks, and the social consequences for European states and cross-border societal development within the European Union and its neighbours.

One special feature of the programme is the research project in the third semester. Students have the opportunity to work in research groups attached to faculty chairs or at an associated research facility and develop their own research proposals in the various colloquia on offer.

Master in Legaltech aim is to prepare highly qualified professionals with a wide range of multidisciplinary competencies in law and technologies.

International Law and Law of the European Union

About the program

An Integrated Studies Program in International Law and European Union Law prepares professionals to work as legal experts, as well as conduct research and academic activities. The program offers a full cycle of higher education in law: the graduates receive an LLM degree. The program aims to educate creative and active lawyers able to solve organizational and management issues, as well as work as legal advisers and lawmakers at both national and international levels.

Law

The main objective of the Law study program is to prepare highly qualified lawyer, who is able to independently perform activities that require personal responsibility in various fields, who is critical thinking, knowing and perceiving the place of law and purpose in the system of social science, who knows the legal system of Lithuania, legislation, who able to apply them and to solve specific practical problems.

Upon completion of Law study programme, graduates receive Professional Bachelor of Law.

The acquired qualification of the lawyer enables to work as a pretrial investigation officer, customs official, manager and specialist of the personnel office, an assistant of the bailiff, official in municipality administrative bodies, in judicial institutions, the State Social Insurance Fund pension sections in territorial divisions, or as a lawyer in private enterprises.
