Lithuanian Energy Institute

Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI) is internationally recognized energy-related research, development and innovation (R&D&I) competence center.

LEI invites students who have obtained a Master’s degree to contribute to the goals of the European Green Deal by pursuing PhD studies in the following scientific fields:

  • Energetics and Power Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Economics

The studies are state-funded, and PhD students receive a monthly scholarship: 1330 Eur per month in the first year, increasing to 1540 Eur per month from the second year onward.

LEI’s PhD students work on the most pressing challenges of today and the future: climate change, sustainable economy, renewable energy, smart cities, hydrogen and nuclear energy.

Study fields:

  • Energetics and Power Engineering covers research in renewable energy sources, hydrogen and nuclear energy, and electricity transmission. These studies allow students to contribute to energy transformation and climate change mitigation.
  • Environmental Engineering is an interdisciplinary field addressing environmental protection, sustainability, and climate change. PhD students deepen their knowledge in pollution prevention, waste management, ecology, and the development of sustainable technologies.
  • Economics offers a wide research scope, from energy transformation to building societal well-being. LEI’s PhD students in economics work on interdisciplinary projects and gain skills valued in both academic and business environments.

 

 

Energetics and Power Engineering covers research in renewable energy sources, hydrogen and nuclear energy, and electricity transmission. These studies allow students to contribute to energy transformation and climate change mitigation.

Study programme consists of:

  • Studies: 30 ECTS (4-5 study modules, at least 1 study module abroad)
  • Research (presentation of research results in at least 2 international conferences, at least 1 – abroad and at least 2 scientific publications of research results)
  • Doctoral dissertation (preparation and defence)
