Lithuanians – most educated nation in Europe!

Another reason why Lithuania is among top destinations for quality studies in Europe is that our population is amongst top educated in Europe. We were showed to be among the best educated nations in Europe once more by the European Commision’s Eurostat website, which compared all European countries against the same criteria. 93.3% of 25-64 year olds in Lithuania have upper secondary education (followed by 92.5% in Czech Republic, 91.7% in Slovakia and 89.8% in Estonia), while Malta (38.1%), Portugal (37.6%) and Turkey (30.9%) are forming the bottom of the table (original source here). Record-breaking year of admissions

1628 students from all around the world started their degree programmes in Lithuanian Universities and Colleges this academic year. All together there are 4284 international students studying in Lithuania – an increase of 12% from last year‘s 3798. This data was gathered by the Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania, and represents those students who have enrolled in full time degree programmes, excluding students who came to Lithuania for a term or two during an exchange programs, like Erasmus, for example. Vilnius Gediminas Technical University Is the First in Lithuania to Train Helicopter Pilots

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) invests in the studies infrastructure – flight training unit in Kyviskes acquired two new helicopters Cabri G2. These air crafts will be used to prepare qualified helicopter pilots. „Europos Bures“ („European sails“) awards ceremony took place on January the 30th in Vilnius. These Awards, hosted by the Lithuanian Ministry of Finance, are given to Lithuanian projects which make the best use of European Social Funds. 129 ESF projects were given to the jury of specialist from the ESF and various other organizations. They selected 27 of them to be nominated in 9 different categories, and the public voted on the website delfi.lt to determine the final winners in each category. VGTU students created distantly guided robot hand

Engineering students from Vilnius Gediminas technical University (VGTU) have recently presented a distantly guided robot hand. The hand can very precisely imitate movements of the handbreadth, and could be used to take or move different objects from difficult to reach or dangerous for health places. The mechanical hand is guided using a special glove with modern technologies installed, i.e. students created supersensitive optical sensors, which transfer signals as electronic impulses to the robot hand via Bluetooth.
