Lithuanians from abroad studying at Lithuanian higher education institutions are invited to apply for state support for the 2026 autumn semester. Applications may be submitted from 10 September to 10 October 2026.
Two types of support are available:
- a monthly scholarship equal to 3.25 basic social benefits (BSB);
- a one-off social allowance of EUR 232 or EUR 319 for students who meet the relevant social criteria.
Eligible applicants may receive one or both types of support. Support is awarded through a competitive procedure and is subject to the availability of state funding.
Who can apply?
Applicants must qualify as Lithuanians from abroad under the applicable rules and be enrolled in short-cycle, Bachelor’s, integrated, Master’s or doctoral studies at a Lithuanian higher education institution.
Applicants must have no outstanding academic requirements, except when applying only for a social allowance. Support is not available to students studying the official language or languages of the country from which they came to Lithuania.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted electronically through the State Studies Foundation’s “Parama” information system no later than 10 October 2026.
First-time applicants may be asked to provide documents confirming their eligibility if the required information is unavailable or incomplete in Lithuanian state registers. Documents issued by foreign authorities must be translated into Lithuanian and legalised or certified with an Apostille, unless an exemption applies.
