The aim of the study programme is to provide college higher European standards corresponding Social Work area education by developing a specialist, whose professional competence enables them to effectively address the Lithuanian rural communities (parish) social problems.

About study programmes

Access to professional activity or further study

The acquired Professional Bachelor’s degree of Social Sciences will enable a graduate to work in social security system (micro and macro levels), health care system, education institutions, law institutions and non-governmental organizations.

Access to further study: Graduates of first cycle higher education programme will be able to study further in social sciences study fields programmes. Studies can be continued in Master’s programs: Social Work, Rehabilitation, Education, Public Administration.

Module elements (study subjects): Introduction to studies; Basics of social work; Values and ethics of social work; Methods of social work; Christian anthropology; Personal and social psychology; Social medicine; Basics of social politics; Social work with elderly people in a community; Social integration of disabled people; Rehabilitation of social risk groups; Organization of sociocultural work in a community; Preparation and management of social projects; Charitable voluntary activities; Programs of social welfare; Basics of law; Basics of economy; Information technologies; Christian spirituality.

Elective module elements (study subjects): Healthy living; Information management; Carrier planning; Activities of non-governmental organizations (NGO); Mental health of a community; NGO legal base; crisis psychology; Introduction to sociology; Social education; International programs and projects; Basics of public administration and etc.

Professional practice: introductory practice; individual/family social welfare practice; practice of communal lifestyle.

Exchange studies: Possibility to take part in Erasmus+ exchange programme for studies and internships and get monthly scholarships of 300 – 700 Eur.

St. Ignatius of Loyola College conditions for admission

Minimal education of the applicant: Secondary

  1. Must apply via UNIMETIS system or via email: admissions@ilk.lt
  2. Must have a valid ID document
  3. Must have a CV (resume)
  4. Must have a certificate of maturity (Diploma and supplement)
  5. Must have a B2 English language level certificate
  6. Must have a GPA of 5 = Sufficient (40–49%) or CGPA of no less than 40% to be eligible for studies
  7. Must have a police clearance certificate
  8. Must be able to come to Lithuania in person for studies
  9. Must have enough resources to support oneself
  10. Related work, volunteering experience or additional achievements are considered to be a big advantage
