Programme overview

Profile of the programme:

The program consists of five specializations for restorers: painting, mural painting, sculpture, textile, interior and architecture (this program was adopted by the Senate of Vilnius Academy of Arts, 2010.04.21.)
The aim of programme is to give additional knowledge about methods of protection and conservation, of heritage, their variety and apply them into practice. It is necessary to know the Lithuanian and International Acts for heritage protection and conservation-restoration. According to this program student gains ability to make a physical state diagnosis of property or object, the reason of decay; to prepare a research program; to take part in its implementation or to invite other specialists for research work; work out a project of conservation-restoration program, to take part in its practical implementation; to prepare the suggestions for conservation-restoration or recreation project (for interior or architectural heritage objects); having adopted it, to prepare the project for conservation-restoration in accordance with well grounded research data. Skills to take part in research and conservation-restoration works as a team and work with other restorers and heritage protection specialists. After graduation from Master’s program a restorer has to apply for the State attestation of restorers.
