Handling an aircraft is similar to driving a car – once your goal is clear, you will definitely find the necessary means to reach it.

Aircraft piloting studies at Antanas Gustaitis’ Aviation Institute not only provide both knowledge and experience to pilot airplanes or helicopters, as well as a comprehensive understanding of aviation. This program is intended to those who are interested in aircraft piloting and aeronautical engineering, i.e. to those who wish to become pilots.

The programme is designed to ensure that after five years of integrated studies it is possible both to obtain the aeronautical engineering master’s degree and aircraft (airplane or helicopter) professional pilot’s license.

There is a very considerable worldwide lack of pilots, therefore, the graduates of this study programme transfer just as much value to the modern workplace and will definitely get employment.

In the course of studies, students learn to pilot both single-engine and twin-engine jets and improve their skills in a flight simulator. Also, students gain sufficient knowledge to pilot any type of aircraft, e.g. civil aircrafts such as Boeing or Airbus, or any type of fighter aircrafts. VGTU Antanas Gustaitis’ Aviation Institute cooperates with The General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania in training of fighter aircraft pilots.

Starting from the second year of studies, the language of instruction is English. In the course of studies, students accumulate 240 flight hours.

Although it is possible to become an aircraft pilot even without higher education, these studies provide comprehensive professional knowledge about aviation system and market, procedures, operation of mechanical, electric, automated aircraft systems, flight planning/scheduling, aviation calculations, maintenance of radio connection.

Candidates to the study programme must have Class I health certificate, pass the career aptitude and physical fitness tests.

Female students make approximately 10 per cent of the total number of students in the study programme.

The programme includes:

  • 14 ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) courses
  • 215 hours of aircraft piloting training;
  • 55 hours on the simulator FNPT II MCC.
All AGAI’s theoretical and practical training activities meet the standard requirements of international aviation organizations ICAO and EASA as certified by Lithuanian Civil Aviation Administration.
Our students acquire:
  • Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering
  • ATPL license issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Aircrafts for training: Cessna 152, Cessna 172, Cessna 172S, Piper Pa-34-220T;
Helicopters: Cabri G2
Flight simulator: FNPT II MCC for aircrafts Cessna 172, Piper Seneca, Beachcraft King Air 200 and not certified FNPT type Boeing 737;
Training aerodrome: Kyviškės aerodrome (20 km outside of Vilnius).

All international students willing to study Aircraft Piloting integrated studies, will be admitted to the first year of Mechanical Engineering study programme. During the first year, students must pass entrance tests and make the First class medical certificate. Students that will successfully pass entrance tests and first year of studies, will automatically continue in the second year of Aircraft Piloting integrated studies.
Tuition fee for the first year of studies in Mechanical Engineering study programme is 3500 EUR

First year (in Mechanical Engineering study programme) 3500 EUR
Second – Fourth year 15234 EUR
Fifth year 16942 EUR

What are my career perspectives?
