Objective(s) of the study programme

To equip professionals of information systems being able to analyse the information needs of enterprises and organizations, to plan, design, program, implement, update and maintain information systems.

Access to Professional activity

Students in the programme of the Development and Maintenance of Information Systems are trained the technologies of modern programming, databases, development of information systems. Graduates attain competences to apply best practices of information systems design, programming, IT service management, to develop and update information systems in team, to carry out maintenance of information systems. Having completed studies, IT professionals are able to work in the field of development and maintenance of information systems. They are able to execute information systems planning, design, installation and maintenance of information systems in various companies and organizations.

Students of the programme have the opportunity to study according to the ERASMUS student exchange program.

Programme objective: To prepare a specialist, who is able to create media systems, computer games, attractive online information systems; who has professional programming skills, the knowledge of principals of human-computer interaction, computer audio and video processing, who would have the basics of creative visual thinking. Such specialist can work as a programmer or as a developer-designer at any company, which creates computer games, develops and (or) uses media technologies either on his/her own or by establishing his/her company as well as  being a part of an IT team in any IT company.

Programme learning outcomes: You will learn information technology applications, programming basics, computer graphics and animation, computer design basics, 3D graphics and animation, object-oriented programming, content management systems and computer games. You will learn to develop audio visual technology, interactive media components, smart devices and other multimedia, also games with Unity3D engine.

Career prospects

You will become: programmer, audio and video processing specialist, IT team member for any company which uses information technologies, or you could work in your own established IT services company.

In the Master’s program of Applied Informatics, you will become acquainted with artificial emotional intelligence and operations research theory, deepen your knowledge of machine learning, data visualization, and cloud computing, and enhance your skills in IT project management. Computers and computer systems are everywhere – even where we don’t expect them at all.

This essential part of everyday life must be maintained by qualified specialists capable to assess users’ needs as well as to design, implement and administer computer systems and networks, forsee development posibilities and ensure security.

The Information Systems Technology Study Programme implemented at Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija not only provides such a specialist necessary knowledge and skills, but also offers two specializations – Business Systems Technology or Design, Installation and Maintenance of Computer Networks. Which one could be yours?

Students’ knowledge and skills are developed together with recognized professionals by developing urban projects.

Why in Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija?

The graduate after acquiring Professional Bachelor Degree of Computing will be able to work as an analyst, project manager, database administrator, computer network administrator, business processes analyst, tester, computer network engineer, system administrator.
Upon completion of the study programme Information Systems Technology studies can be continued at universities in the study programmes of the group of computing study fields.
After completion of bridge courses or fulfilling other requirements of the accepting institution, access to the second cycle university studies.
