Dentistry

The programme of Dentistry is aimed at educating dentists, which is a state-regulated profession. Its design is in accordance with the general requirements for the integrated studies set out in the Republic of Lithuania’s valid legal documents and is also fully consistent with the requirements laid down in the European Directive 2005/36/EC. The programme in Dentistry encompasses compulsory subjects of theoretical and practical teaching. Each discipline tries to balance the theoretical and practical approaches to maintain the level of university education.

International Law and Law of the European Union

About the program

An Integrated Studies Program in International Law and European Union Law prepares professionals to work as legal experts, as well as conduct research and academic activities. The program offers a full cycle of higher education in law: the graduates receive an LLM degree. The program aims to educate creative and active lawyers able to solve organizational and management issues, as well as work as legal advisers and lawmakers at both national and international levels.

Architecture

HOW CAN YOU GET INTO THE PROGRAMME?

For Architecture programme, entrance test is required (example). Foreign students can take the test online on a previously agreed time. The test is reviewed by vice dean of the faculty and programme coordinator.
Test duration is 4 hours, it consists of two tasks.
First task is architectural composition. The aim of the task is to prepare presentation of proposed design of the architectural object and its environment. Single A3 sheet of paper should be used for presentation of the project. The project should include the plan, front and side views of the object as well as perspective view of the object rendered in natural environment. Additional views or details are allowed if necessary. The test should be executed in free hand technique using graphite pencil.
Second task is free hand drawing task of proposed construction (two or three elements). A3 size paper sheet and graphite pencil use only.

Animal Clinics

Large Animal Clinic of Veterinary Academy
Large Animal Clinic services include research and teaching duties, as well as clinic responsibilities. Veterinarians from Veterinary Faculty are ones of the most skilled and experienced clinicians available. Providing services ranging from simple services and soundness evaluations to the most complex surgeries needed, Large Animal Clinic can fulfill all equine and livestock needs. Our team of veterinarians provides emergency assistance for horses (colic cases, traumatic or extra clinical help), for cattle (calving helping, Caesarean sections, left or right displaced abomasum operations, etc.) or small ruminants and swine.
We perform various routine examinations or surgical operations in clinic or on farms with mobile veterinary service. Students and residents have opportunity to be permanent assistants for veterinarians of Large Animal Clinic during a wide range of different services, such as feeding and veterinary consultations, oestrus synchronization protocols on farms (including pregnancy detection by ultrasound), farm management projects, horse rehabilitation procedures and other veterinary services. In addition, veterinarians and farmers are provided with consultations related to animal welfare, nutrition and reproduction. We use the most advanced and innovative technology. Large animal clinic is involved in various research projects, and it organizes practical workshops for veterinarians.

Small Animal Hospital of Dr. L. Kriauceliunas
Small Animal Clinic of Dr. L. Kriaučeliūnas was established in 1996 by the foundation of Dr. L. Kriaučeliūnas who was a student of Lithuanian Veterinary Academy in 1940-1944.
Veterinary medicine students of Veterinary Faculty, residents and PhD students have lectures and improve their practical skills in Small Animal Clinic of Dr. L. Kriaučeliūnas every day. Clinic participates in various international exchange and science programmes. Small Animal Clinic of Dr. L. Kriaučeliūnas organises practical teaching seminars for Veterinary medicine practitioners and students. Our Veterinary Clinic offers compassionate and professional service, providing superior animal health care for pets every hour of every day. Professional veterinary team on duty provides therapeutic, surgical, emergency, diagnostic imaging, laboratory and other services. Also, there are spacious intensive care, inpatient units and Veterinary Pharmacy.

The degree programme Medicine aims at educating medical doctors capable of entering residency programmes or having necessary skills to provide emergency aid and health care services under the supervision of a physician specialist.

AFTER GRADUATION YOU CAN:

  • After successful completion of the programme and obtaining the diploma, students can work in various biomedical areas of general practice. Graduates may also consider undertaking further residency studies, leading to a qualification of a specialist physician, or study for a PhD.
  • Apply for a license to practice medicine.

Teaching method

Problem-based learning (PBL) is a method practiced by the Faculty of Medicine. PBL courses prompt students to analyse and solve problems, research, discuss and present hypothetical theories, solutions or recommendations in groups.

Evaluation of performance

Examinations are taken upon completion of each subject. The studies are completed by summative final theoretical and practical (at the bedside) examinations.

The architecture blends science and art, and it is present in all the spaces around us – our home, neighbourhood, cities we live in. The significance of architecture is more than evident.

The main skill of an architect is the ability to create safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing buildings or dwellings. At KTU, the graduates learn that a building is not only a place where people live and work but is also an important part of our surroundings that makes an impact on how we live.

Our students learn using contemporary technology and knowledge of historical, aesthetic, socio-cultural and ecological contexts. KTU graduates become the architects that can create buildings for any purpose, shape the landscape, analyse and design the spaces for the future.

Learning from internationally renowned scholars and practitioners you will analyse and design projects both from user and architects’ perspectives using structural, social, aesthetical, ecological, and economic research. In your studies, you will learn how to visualise the innovative architectural design and urban planning solutions, to generate creative ideas and implement them.

Funding opportunities

All international students automatically become candidates to receive the Scholarship for International Students, which is assigned for first-year Bachelor or Master students with strong academic records and motivation.

The residents of European Union countries and the global citizens of Lithuanian origin can apply for state-funded study places. This means that all the applicants, who fall into one of the aforementioned categories, will participate in the general admission’s competition for state-funded study places and get the chance to study free of charge, depending on their admission score.

Campus life

The main KTU Campus is within walking distance from the city centre. In the campus, university sports halls and courts, dormitories, shops and recreational areas are all nearby. KTU boasts the active student community, with 6 art societies and over 20 students’ organisations. Our students can choose from 100 weekly sports classes, and join one of 20 sports teams. All of this is free of charge.

Over 40 thousand students study in Kaunas, and of these, around 10% are international students. Lush parks, lively squares, cosy cafes and buzzing cultural life make Kaunas attractive not only as a travel destination but also as a place to live.
