International Week at Vilniaus Kolegija

During the last week of April Vilniaus kolegija organised an annual International Week (IW). This year IW hosted 56 lecturers from partner higher education institutions and business companies in 16 countries. In total 112 lectures were held in all 7 faculties of Vilniaus kolegija. The main goal of the international week was to give possibilities for all the students, who do not participate in exchange programmes, benefit from international lecturers’ classes and workshops (“Internationalisation at home”).

In addition, 3 international conferences, 3 seminars and several visits to Vilniaus kolegija’s social partners were organised.

During the opening of the IW keynote speeches were delivered by Mrs. Aurelija Valeikiene, the Deputy Director of The Centre of Quality Assessment in Higher Education, and dr. Laima Galkute, Associate Professor of Vilnius University, an expert in education for sustainable development at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.

The key event of the social programme of the IW was International Evening, where ethnographic regions of Lithuania were presented by Vilniaus kolegija’s folk dance group “Voruta”. This was followed by presentations of countries, which Vilniaus kolegija’s exchange students come from.

Besides the guest lecturers, two groups of students from Belgium, Thomas More University College and Scotland, New College Lanarkshire, visited Vilniaus kolegija during the IW. Students participated in the classes and workshops of the visiting lecturers and performed projects assignments.
