Even more foreign lecturers to come to Lithuania

There are 398 foreign lecturers in Lithuania this academic year, doing research teaching students. Most of them, at least the ones that work in Universities full-time, work in European Humanities University (88)*, Vilnius University (51), LCC International University (39), Vytautas Magnus University (24) and Klaipeda University (12). Even more lecturers come to Lithuania for short visits using programmes such as Erasmus+ (no, it is not just for the students! ;-)), Nordplus and others.

Attracting high qualification lecturers from abroad is also a national priority – Lithuanian ministry of Education and Science allocated 456,000 Litas to help Universities hire staff from other countries. This budget can be used by any institution which plan to have guest lecturers, scientists, artists, sportsmen and other professionals of certain fields who could add value to the curriculum of students in Lithuania. Last year 75 applications from Universities were granted these funds, and this year the plan is to fund 95 visits from lecturers abroad.
