Description

 Study programme objective(s): to educate qualified specialists of Economics meeting demands of the labour market, who are able to analyse, critically assess and creatively apply information required for professional performance and to ethically solve economic problems arising at an organisational or national level.

 

After the completion of Economics study programme, the student:

  • Knows theoretical concepts in the field of Economics and related sciences and applies them inclusively while perceiving and assessing professional phenomena.
  • Knows categories, patterns and methods of Economics that are expanded by related scientific knowledge and possibilities offered by empirical research methods.
  • Bases professional activities on the integrated knowledge of Economics and other related sciences, social, cultural and ethical values.
  • Is able to creatively apply scientific knowledge of Economics in interdisciplinary studies and professional career, to analyze and critically interpret economic processes in the context of economic theories and international changes.
  • Is able to carry out research by creatively and critically applying methods of economics, economic analysis and related sciences methods, based on fundamental and applied research achievements, to formulate conclusions of the analysis.
  • Is able to develop instruments for data collection and ground methods for their analysis, to assess the main economic and business patterns, to see the links between economic processes and their management possibilities.
  • Is able to find, interpret and apply the results of researches while searching solutions of economic problems, to forecast development trends of economic phenomena in the context of socio–economic policy.
  • Is able to analyze and assess the specificity of optimization of business processes and decision-making features in organizations that perform in different markets, to manage and adapt supply chains in the context of national macroeconomic environment and rapid changes in the global economy
  • Is able to assess and manage the changes of organizations’ financial flows, to perform financial markets’ analysis and forecast changes by using methods of financial analysis and applied statistics, econometric knowledge and techniques
  • Is able to collect, organize and analyze data necessary to solve important economic and social problems in organizations, to provide recommendations for decision making and performance improvement.
  • Is able to independently plan, organize, execute and evaluate economic activities, by reasonably choosing methods, which integrate organizational, technological and methodological tools.
  • Is able to constructively communicate with professionals and members of the society while solving professional issues, to present performance results for different audiences, to discuss relevant economic issues in professional and interdisciplinary environment.
  • Is able to coherently and convincingly express oneself orally and in writing by providing knowledge and understanding to professionals in Lithuanian and at least one of the major languages used worldwide.
  • Takes responsibility for one’s own and subordinates’ activities and quality of work, uses professional ethics and social responsibility principles while evaluating and making decisions.
  • Is able to critically and constructively evaluate one’s own and colleagues’ professional activities, understands and accepts moral responsibility for one’s own activities and their results’ impact on public welfare.
  • Takes responsibility for professional development by using formal and informal ways of lifelong learning, is able to improve continuously learning skills and plan learning process.
  • Is able to make independent decisions in difficult situations, to remain objective and critical while assessing processes and phenomena not only in professional area but also in the wider context.

Carrier opportunities

Graduates can work in business enterprises, insurance companies, banks, other financial and governmental institutions as analysts of economics and finance, experts responsible for strategic planning and forecasting of economic processes.
